Want to look like a Cullen? Hopefully this will help! xD
Here’s the link for my second full-length Temptalia post! Trust me, it’s a long one; it’s twice as long as the last one. Haha! Enjoy.

One more question! I’m doing tretinoin at night time. When I have an inflammatory acne, should I use benzoyl peroxide on it as a spot treatment, even though it will render the tretinoin ineffective? Don’t retinoids have some sort of anti-inflammatory effect, and would also help with acne visible on the skin?
No retinoids aren’t known for their anti-inflammatory properties, and it doesn’t really help existing acne. Retinoids prevent future ones from forming. Stick with tretinoin one night, and SA and BP on the other. Or if you can handle it, use the SA and BP during the day, and the tretinoin at night-time.
Okay. I don’t know where I read that retinoids had anti-inflammatory properties. Guess I was way off there. Thanks!
Sure, you’re welcome!
When treating an inflammatory acne, that’s visible on the skin, is the combination of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide a good choice for a spot treatment, or would I be better off using just the benzoyl peroxide?
Both since salicylic acid is also anti-inflammatory! 🙂
Thanks! What if I can’t stand both of them? Is one more effective than the other or does that vary from person to person?
It definitely varies from person to person. But if I had to go with just one, I’d pick salicylic acid over benzoyl peroxide. But if you can handle both, use SA all over, and BP just on the spot.
Hey, John! I just wanted to let you know that I first found about you in October when you posted on Temptalia, and I love this new post of yours, too! Your posts are so unbelievably informative. As a science major who’s taken some pre-med classes, I give you major props for bringing this kind of information to the beauty blogging world. You’ve even helped me find some possible solutions for my own skin issues, as mild as they are. Your passion for this science really shows, and it’s really admirable!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m linking out to your blog on my blog, and I hope you’re OK with that! Please let me know if you’d like me to take it down.
Hi there! Well that’s truly flattering! Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback. What you’ve said completely made me smile.
And of course you can link my blog on your blog. The more information the merrier, right? As probably the first, or one of the first, person to actually link my blog, thank you! 🙂 I look forward to reading and sharing your comments and knowledge as well.
