Hey John,
Have you seen Paula Begoun’s most recent FB post on AHAs and BHAs? Once again she equates SAs with BHAs: “BHA—salicylic acid is the only BHA ingredient”. Here’s the link if you’re interested: https://www.facebook.com/notes/paulas-choice-inc/your-glow-getter-guide-aha-bha-exfoliation-explained/10150474382384004
Yeah, like I said in this post, it’s a small technicality that’s easily overlooked. And perhaps Paula didn’t; she’s just going with the flow because she’s focusing on the benefits of SA like many dermatologist. Who knows? She’s also wrong the retinol isn’t an exfoliant. While that’s not it’s only benefit, retinol does actually cause some form of exfoliation, but that’ll be saved for a future post. Really, I’m not picking on Paula. I obviously love her products, it’s just not all her information is correct.
I really like knowing all this stuff about HAs that I would never have gathered on my own. Misconception #2 makes me a little afraid of buying any exfoliant without some sort of “technical” review.
Haha glad you could learn something. And as always, if you have questions about a product, feel free to ask me. 🙂
Thanks, I will!
